Guest guest
Does anyone in NY have just medicaid or medicaid and Child Health Plus? Very confused here, after almost a year of applying for medicaid we finally have a medicaid waiver but are now being told we can't have both medicaid and child health plus. Why didn't they tell me that earlier??? What does medicaid cover? What does it not cover? I've called a few of Sheldon's specialists and some of them don't take medicaid. Very frustrated and don't know which is better, medicaid or child health plus. Thanks...

Guest guest
Hi, My mother is a NYS medicaid worker. I told her about your e-mail and she suggested you go with medicaid. She says its better. She also said to ask about a " home and community based waivor " if your child is considered disabled. She said they won't count the parents income or resources and only count what the child gets with this waivor. She also wondered what part of NY you are from. She works in Buffalo. If you have any more questions, I can pass them on to her. She is recovering from surgery and can't get online herself. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the info. We actually have the waiver already, we just got it and hadn't been told that we couldn't have both types of insurance so now we suddenly have to decide which one to keep but don't have any information about medicaid. We haven't even received a medicaid card yet. We're wondering if medicaid will pay for visits to the motility specialist at Boston Children's Hospital, we just got that approved by the child health plus insurance. We live just north of Albany. Thanks again, I really appreciate the inside info. Hi, My mother is a NYS medicaid worker. I told her about your e-mail and she suggested you go with medicaid. She says its better.
