Becky,

I have heard of Meniere's-- in fact, my aunt has it and has to take Antivert all the time to keep it under control.

I've never heard of it being part of sarcoidosis. The elevated ACE is a sign that you have inflammation-- somewhere-- it is non-specific as to where. I suspect it could have been elevated because of the Menieres. I would be surprised if it was in any way connected to the sarcoidosis, or even caused by the sarc.

One thing that would happen is that you would have increased joint/muscle pain from having to fight to maintain balance. I know that if anything is out of place in our backs, we compensate by tensing up and protecting the area that is injured-- which throws the rest of the area into hypervigalence-- and then we have another area that hurts.

I am so glad to hear that the mastoidectomy went well for you-- I can't imagine what it would be like to have such extreme surgery on your ears. Simple infections toss most of us on our arses...

It's good to see you post-- keep in touch.

Sincerely,

Tracie

I have written to this group in a couple of years but have been reading the digest frequently. Something happened to me that I thought you might find interesting. I was diagnosed with neurosarcoidosis 4 years ago. I have been sick with dizziness, nausea, fatigue, muscle pain, etc. The sarc first showed up as imflammation/adhesions on the top of my spain and the brain stem. Needless to say we were quite worried. My ACE level ran about 140. I took all the standard drugs, Plaqunil, methotrexate, steroids, steroids and steroids. My MRI finally came back normal but problems continued. Finally they checked my for meniere's disease. Bingo..I had bilateral meniere's. They did a mastoidectomy and sac decompression. (Removed the mastoid bone and trimmed all the bone around the inner ear. For the first time in 5 years my ACE level is down to 56!!!! The doctor's are intrigued. The ENT never had a patient with an allevated ACE and nuero never had a patient with an allevated ACE that had Meniere's. Have any of you had this experience? I wonder if it would be worth research.
