Guest guest
Tracie -- THANK YOU SO MUCH for this info on Kim.......I wonder about her daily but I had no clue on how to get in touch with her. Does she ever read the emails at the site or does she have the capability??I take it she is not well enough to come back yet.....?????? I am SO glad she is back in the states and it sounds like she is here to stay...... sorry that she has no medical insurance, though.. Is there a chance that she will get some?? Thanks again for the info. Hugs, Darlene NS Co-Owner/Moderator The missing moderator I finally tracked down our own Kim. Kuwaiti Kim for those of you who remember her from long ago. she is back in the states, and has been since last Dec. She is here with no health insurance, so is still fighting to get care... The Kuwaiti Ministry that pays medical expenses decided that they could treat her back in Kuwait, as the initial tests don't show any difference in her health issues. She does have epilepsy, and as long as she has her meds, it can be controlled. The problem is that they don't have insurance, don't qualify for any of the assistance programs- and she doesn't have the energy to go thru the re-establishment process with new docs. I don't have her permission to give out more information-- so this will have to do-- I'll give you updates as I can. She has chosen to stay in the states, so won't be going back over to Kuwait except to visit. Her husband will be making trips here several times a year, and that seems to work for them. He went back over there this last summer, so that he could return to work. She has the kids here-- and all are doing well. Take care, Tracie See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. She is not able to handle the group emails. Emotionally, it's just too much. She has the 4 youngest kids with her, and the twins are in their apartment-- her home isn't big enough for all of them. As far as the insurance-- she is one of the many that don't qualify for any MediCaid because she has more income than they allow, and yet is totally uninsurable via Private insurance. She was hoping to find work that would give her insurance, but she has tried to work in retailing, only to set off her epilepsy this last week due to the stress. She is also out of her meds for the seizures-- and right now can't afford it. I'm hoping she'll let me see if we can get something via PPARX. Guest guest
Tracie thank you so much for the update, what a load off just hearing we know where she is, this whole health insurance topic really sucks, I am sick and tired of hearing you can’t have this or that, people need care when they need it, I just think of all those years we’ve paid into the health system, and now they have us by our (you finish here), please tell her I have been praying for her I never stopped, and just tell her how much she is loved, this brings tears to my eyes to hear she is here, but also frustration that she still has to fight the system, I guess life is not fair, something I tell my children all the time, love to Kim, Marla From: Neurosarcoidosis [mailto:Neurosarcoidosis ] On Behalf Of tiodaat@... Guest guest
I too am glad to hear from Kim. One thing different about her situation, though, is that she is on the Kuwaiti health plan. They have paid for a lot of her care, both here & in Kuwait. It sounds like they would still pay if she were being seen in Kuwait. Kim told me once that over there it was no problem getting MRI's, etc., but the doctors weren't knowledgeable about what to do with the results. Now that she is living here & Kuwait won't cover her care, her husband's income might make her ineligible for Medicaid, etc. She's in a no-man's (or woman's) land, kind of. Guest guest
Oh, I am so glad that you heard from her.I think everyone who knew her missed and worried about her. It's awful that she doesn't have medical insurance. I hope she is getting some help medically. It's good that she has her kids around though to help. That's too bad that she has to be apart from her husband. Thanks for passing on the news to us, Tracie.
