Ellie!! Bless your heart girl. you take care tomorrow.. dream sweet

dreams of a healthy future!!! About UHC.. I agree that policies

differ.. BUT, my whole fight with them is that they say they stopped

approving DS (and remember they swore to this under oath in front of

the state of florida provider assistance panel) .. COMPANY WIDE in

february because they said it was investigational.. they said they

approved the procedure all along while they reviewed the procedure for

safety and efficacy..but now deny it becuase its not proven.. that is

a load of crap because no one who belongs to the medical community ..

not hospitals, doctors or insurance companies prescribe things until

they are convinced its safe and effective.. Not to mention they have

approved more surgeries since then. take it from me, if they dont

want to approve you , they wont.. and they will lie to keep from doing

so.. lets take an unofficial poll here.. How many people have been

approved for ds surgery since february? I'd love to know this.. Good

luck to you, Ellie I'll be praying for you.. Sue.

P.S. Instead of going thru Walter, who is booked way up.. find a local

attorney who does things like workman's comp claims.. they are usually

very good at insurance disputes.. they can get you in much faster and

probably know the law better in your state. just a tip.

Hi :

I have UHC Select Plus PPO as well. My insurance letter is supposed

to be sent out Mon/Tuesday this week. Was just wondering how long it

took UHC to approve?

I think it took about 3 weeks or so. If I remember correctly it would

have been sooner but they were waiting for something else from the

docs office.

I have to say that our insurance has been fantastic. The case

managers have initiated several calls to check on me both pre and

post op to make sure I didn't need anything. They also paid for my

dh's LASIK surgery last year.

<<<Was just wondering how long it took UHC to approve?>>>

My particular Group has a policy to approve/deny within 72 hours.

Most of the time is shorter than that. I was approved over the

phone. Not sure if all UHC is the same..
