Grant is home!

I thought I'd pop in while I had a chance and let you all know Grant is home.

:) We actually came home on Wednesday, Oct 5. He's been doing very well, and

his brother and sisters were quite excited to meet him and hold him.

As for his feet, I wrote Dr. Ponseti about them and sent a picture. There was

a doctor at the hospital who showed us how to manipulate Grant's feet. He said

to put hard pressure on them and not worry about bruising them because Grant

can't feel them. I asked Dr. Ponseti if he felt that was okay (spina bifida

IS different after all) because my instincts were screaming wrong, but I just

didn't KNOW. Dr. Ponseti said it wasn't necessary to do anything with Grant's

feet at this point and forceful manipulation could cause damage to the

cartilage, bones, etc. Needless, to say we aren't going to that doctor. What

really torques me is he is an infectious diseases doctor, not a ped ortho, but

he thinks he has a method, I guess. Of course, I'm a big ol' wimp and didn't

express this to him. I didn't see him again, though. He's the spina bifida

clinic coordinator, and on lots of things he seemed quite knowledgable, just

not clubfeet for sure.

We're trying to set up an appointment with Dr. Koop from Gillette. He was

recommended to us by the castlady and Dr. Ponseti.

Just thought you all might like to know my handsome boy was home. :) Thanks so

much for your thoughts and prayers. I'm seeing the results in action. :)

Good for you Joy, go with those instincts! They will keep you on

track just like they did with Rose. I'm so glad to hear that Grant is
