Guest guest
Yes, my body does respond to different climates with this illness. I lived in Indianapolis, Indiana for several years when I was diagnosed. Now I live in Tampa, Florida. The difference is tremendous! I can not tolerate exreme cold or heat. So I adjust the thermostat accordingly. The problem is my internal thermostat. The part of the brain that regulates body temperature is not funtioning properly. That is why I am cold or hot when everyone else is feeling normal, except for the women that are menopausal. It is hard living with my Mom who is menopausal and wants to keep the air on 75 all the time even if it is 74 out doors! You explain it. Living in Tampa is much better for the warm climate during winter and minimizing the gloomy depressing winter blahs that come with living in extremely long winters. I do not have that here. The only drawback is long 90 degree summers. Well, I just stay indoors with my Mom and keep the thermostat on 75 sometimes 72 depending on how extreme the temperature is outdoors. It is a balancing act. But if I had to choose, I would choose the south hands down! Six weeks ago my doctor recommended Lexapro for my depression and it has worked very well for me. I had not take any anti depressants in several years. My last one was zoloft and I wanted to get off it. So I was reluctant to start taking any form of antidepressant again. But my doctor said " this is different and good. I believe it will help you with no side affects. " So he gave my several weeks worth of samples and I must say that I am very pleased with the results. So if you are having problems with depression or your antidepressant ask your doctor for sample of Lexapro and pray that it will make you better. I did and it works. Talk with you later my friends. Brother PS Anyone heard from Becky lately? I emailed her and did not get a response.

Guest guest
Hey Ron, Great minds think alike. My doctor gave me samples of antidepressants, too. I had a little trouble with Lexapro and Zoloft, but the low dose Prozac seems to be okay. I also prefer the heat in the south, which you can control. Not so much, cold and damp, not too much rain, and you can sit in the shade, out of the sunshine and drink cold beverages to cool off. And hey, be nice to the post-menopausal women. They can not control their 'personal summers' anymore than we can!karla Climate and Medication Yes, my body does respond to different climates with this illness. Guest guest
Ron, Lexapro is a great antidepressant. It is really good for people with chronic illness that also have pain issues as I am sure we all do. The only side-effect that I know of is weight gain. If that bothers you, ask about Celexa. It is available generic, it is almost the same drug and it is weight neutral. Talk to you soon.
