Guest guest
I have seen for myself that there are people out there who want to be punished for being fat. They want the RNY so they can punish themselves. I have tried to get them to read up on the DS and given them information and they still write me back emails that say " thanks, but no thanks, I want to get myself under control and stop being a glutten so I want to get the RNY " Well, that is up to them and I think I am through trying to convert the world. Although I do think they need to be pointed in the right direction and then if they still want to be " punished " I guess they are that personality type? But if eating and throwing up were so " good " for you, then why isn't bulimia touted as the best weight loss program around? I remember when I lived in CA in the late 70's there was a company that used " negative reinforcement " to supposedly help people stop over-eating, smoking. They would have you come in and eat something you " shouldn't " have and give you a shock when you ate it (or smoked). I actually thought about doing this until I was told it would cost about $2,000. I don't even think they are in business anymore. Negative reinforcement never worked for me. I guess I am just too stubborn. Even as a kid, positive reinforcement worked. I am still that way. Making me feel like a failure takes all the initiative out of me, but telling me I did a good job makes me want to work at something even harder. Seems to me the RNY is about the biggest negative reinforcement one could have. Carole
