Got the initial papers today. It does have a pre-exsting clause that states:

This policy does not pay benefits if the Disability is basone on an illness

or injury caused by or resulting from: intentionally self inflicted injuries;

suicide or any attempt at suicide, while san or instane (in Missouri while

sane); illness or injuries resulting frm substance abuse, acts of war,

service in the armed forces, non-commercial air travel, commission of a

felony, certain high-risk sprting activities, any illness or injury caused by

a nuclear catastrophe or during periods of incarceration.

This policy does not cover any disability caused by, contributed to by, or

resulting from a pre-existing condition that begins in the first 24 (except

in CA - 6, CO and MS - 12) months after the Insured's coverage is effective.

A pre-existing condition is defined as an injury or illness for which the

insured received medical treatment, consultation care or services, including

diagnostic measures, or had taken a prescribed medication in the 12 (except

in CA - 6) months prior to the effective date

of coverage.

I have not been under medication for anything related to weight for the last

24 months. I was told by my last Dr. that I had high blood pressure, but she

never gave me any medication for it. The last time I saw her was over one

year ago. No other Dr. said I had high blood pressure and I know if they use

a sleeve that is too tight and not big enough for someone MO, it can read

high even when it isn't.

So, all you JDs out there - what do you think?

Should I call and specifically ask if this would exclude obesity? They asked

my weight and height and if they give me the insurance, I would think they

would be aware of my weight issue. Who knows? maybe they won't even insure

me when the underwriter gets the application.
