Guest guest
Judy, Thank you for helping with the Medicare/SSDI stuff. I know I've done a few posts on it over the years, and it can be searched out using SSDI or Disability. I appreciate the clarification of the time frames- and it is important for all of us to apply-- so that we can get at the least Medicare medical coverage. For so many, we can't afford to pay privately for health insurance-- so if we don't have spouses that have great family coverage that is affordable, we end up on the State MediCaid (Medi-Cal in California) and that is sure to get you very little care. I would love to get a copy of the conference--and will be glad to send you a self-addressed stamped envelope. I have your address in the Christmas List stuff-- please do not send it out to the group as a whole. We'll send it privately to each who request it - or you can do that-- and that would be good. Thank you, thank you, Tracie STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH INFO RE: MEDICARE & MEDICADE I worked for the Welfare Department for 9 Years before I left on disability. I have been reading the posts regarding Medicare & Medicaid(Welfare) Medicare is Federal insurance, I just phoned them to make sure that I was saying things correctly. The Rules for Medicare are the same in every state in the United States. Medicare is available for people who have been on Federal Diaability Social Security for 2 Years, on the 25th month you are eligible for Medicare Now if you want to apply for Federal Disability you must be out of work for 6 complete months. If you go on sick leave and are off for 3 months and you decide to go back to work for 1 hour and you realizze that you just can't keep up with the pace of the job and then leave work and go home. Because you went to work for that ONE HOUR the six month clock starts again the day after you wnet to work for that hour. Now when you have been approved for disability there is a program that lets you try to work again. When you are approved for Medicaid or Welfare the rules are different in many states. Welfare is splint into 2 programs Federa; amd States funds. Each state has an intake/application that one fills out. You fill inthe blankz and do the math and will know if you are eligible for state only or state and federal money and also food stamps. That's it in a nutshell. tomorrow if I am up to it I will explain about SSI-social security income for those uner 65, And Federa; Social Security. Also the Indy Retreat is now finished. We are awaiting to spealk to Marla's son. Bob had an idea of posting it in the Archives, then folks wocould just go there and download the talks and listen to them. Another idea is to put it on a DVD ande people can put it into their coimputer and choose which talk they wanted to here at thiet leiaure. We don't want to make any money on this, just the cost of the CD or DVD and postage and envelope cost. How many people are interested in getting one of the discs if we are not able to down load it to the archives.
