Guest guest
Diane, Do your Children have IEP's or a 504 plan? My son is in eighth grade, has an I.E.P., and is not in P.E. We had our Dr. write a letter explaining mito and that he should not have P.E.. My 9 year old has a 504 plan with the accommodation that he is permitted to adjust his participation in P.E. according to how he feels and what the weather conditions are. So far, we have not had any problems. If they have a medical reason and documentation from a doctor, I don't see how the school district can force the issue. I hope this helps a little. Lissa physical education in school? I have twins, aged 13, who have been on the mito cocktail since September. My daughter presented with significant fatigue two years ago. It has taken us this long to unravel all the questions, and we are still on the journey. Last semester in middle school she started later each day than the other kids and did not take P.E. This move was to her benefit. This semester the school wants her to go back to P.E. to fulfill a countywide requirement. She is the kind of kid who will try to keep up with everyone else and I fear it will make her condition deteriorate. Do other mito children take P.E. in school? How do you get out of P.E. if there is a state requirement that everyone must enroll in P.E? I'm trying to find the loophole. Thanks, Diane Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
Not sure about your state/local requirements but when I was a kid in H.S I had a doctors excuse to release me from participating in P.E. At the time I was suffering from alot of medical problems and have arthritis which is especially bad in my knees. I still had to attend P.E. but did not have to participate.
