Guest guest
That was a fantastic article about your little girl. I was wondering weather you had looked into an augmentative speech device at all. Our son, , also could not talk at all and this touch screen " talker " works very well for him. The article mentions that your daughter has not developed cognitively beyond a year old, if that is correct, it might not work well for her but you might still want to do a trial just in case. Thanks for sharing. Guest guest
Wish you could be here in Appleton, WI. They now have a special needs music class that runs about 7 weeks at a time. I haven't enrolled Leah yet. But she loves to dance with us when music comes on. The reporter did a nice article. And long too. Telling about the love of her sister was neat and I like to hear that you don't let things interrupt Jade's day to day things. There is also an organization here called Sib shops. It is for siblings who have siblings with special needs. They focus on only the kids and they have facilitators that help kids express their feelings when they have a session that lets them talk about their siblings with special needs. Leah's brothers adore her and sometimes forget she has special needs. They treat her like an average child and have yelled at her when she gets in the way of playing video games just like you would a little sister. Thanks for sharing the article. I hope it opens up other peoples eyes. We, too are working with Leah on an augmentive device to enable her to express her wishes. We are using pictures right now. But Leah is very much aware of her surroundings but can't tell us in words what she wants. Similiar situation. Nerenhausen mom to leah Beth wrote: That was a fantastic article about your little girl.
