I am also sorry your appointment was bad. Can't you request a new doctor? Don't settle! Okay, I have to address this.

It is not as easy as saying we all have some sort of eating disorder.

This is a serious situation. My mother in law was turned down for

surgery because she is a binge eater as well. She doesn't want to

take that extra step to get past it. The surgeon will not work on you

until you have worked through your binge eating triggers. They wanted

to see 6 months of her losing weight, not a lot, but gradual and they

wanted her to journal all her emotions so she could figure out what

was triggering her behaviour. You have to decide if food is more

important than health. She won't go there. It is sad because she now

weighs more than ever. She already is in AA and NA and won't get rid

of her last vice. Food, even though her actions are still killing her.

Did the Dr explain to you why it is so important that you don't binge

eat after surgery?

It could kill you if your pouch ruptures.

I am just concerned for you and I hope everything works out for you.

I wouldn't change Dr's if I were you just because you don't like the

answers she gives you. Her attitude could be better, that is for

sure, but the bottom line is she is looking out for your health and

best result from having surgery.

Dear Dama,

Take a deep breath! I was told I could get a letter from my PC and

it would be fine, UCLA decided I should see one of their psych's,

that was the appt from hell! (we won't go into getting locked in a

fire escape right before the appt) I thought I did great, and then

she told me to go buy a cookie at the bakery downstairs to get my

$30 parking fee validated!!!!!! She wrote a strange recomendation to

UCLA and they intepreted it to mean I needed counseling. I rebooked

with Kaiser, saw a REAL psyciatrist, he was mad! I have no mental

illness, her letter to UCLA was bunk, and he wrote a real letter,

talking about " axis " stuff and like that. The thing is, I think we

are experiments for some of these people, we are their research so

they can write a paper and get a bigger degree. It is true, we all

got fat by not eating right....and excersizing. If not then thyroid

issues and gland issues would be our problem and WLS can not fix

that. This ding bat I saw at UCLA recommended to almost everyone who

saw her (from the gossip in the waiting room at the doctor's office)

that they should go to Overeaters Annonamous! She didn't write that

about me, but rather that I needed counseling!

I'm sorry you got upset, I feel your pain! My fourth date is coming

up on the 3rd of January, and I woke up this morning all congested!

Geez, Dama! That really sucks! (I'm just reading all my backlogged emails or I would have responded sooner) So what is this next appointment about? I'm sorry your appointmetn was such a bad experience. I know I would

notake that from her. I'd call and talk to her manager and request

someone else.
