Hello Everyone!!

I would first like to say thank you soo much to everyone. I know others have

said this before, but this group truely is wonderful for all the information

that I need. :o)

My Question is this

I have heard many talking about this 12 - 18 month window. I can't remember

where I saw it at, but is it true after that 18 months your stomach is as big as

it was before surgury or almost as big??

I had surgury on June 15th and as of the last time I weighed myself on the scale

I have lost 60lbs. (Yeah for Me.) So the weight is deffinately coming off, but

right now it is sorta slow. ( I guess that is life)

;-) That refers to your bay window. It takes 12 to 18 months to open

fully so all the fat can fall out.

In truth, everybody is different. Congratulations on your 60-lb.

weight loss. I have lost about 59, and I had my DS two weeks before

yours. So, we are all different. And, some folk have reported

unexpected (happy) losses way down the road after two years.

Hi Kathy!

Nope! Not true at all. The surgeon left me with a 5 ounce stomach compared

to less than 32 ounces before surgery and Im 9 1/2 months out now and can

eat 9 ounces which seems like alot of food to me but really isnt! Our

stomachs will never be as big as they were before (this is according to MY

surgeon) and by the time you are a year out you should be eating 2500

calories a day and only absorbing half of them!

Hello -

I'm sorry if I disillusioned you. The Dr. said within

18 months is that your stomach will grow to it's

normal size. The way I took this theory

is The day I have the surgery I will be the same as a

baby. I will eat baby size portions, then as the

months go I will be able to eat a little more. So when

time comes and it is 18 months post op then my stomach

will not that of an OBESE 40 year old

person but that of a NORMAL 40 year old

person.

I hope this explains better.

Tami

Tami...that is the " key " here! " Normal " size as opposed to the bigger than

normal stomachs we had pre opt!

Dr Welker said it will never be the size it was before....it will grow to

accomodate our nutritional needs, yes but not like it was before.
