Guest guest
I would stress. Dr. P has spent fifty years perfecting this method, and 70 degrees is the level of rotation proven to give the results you want. If you experiment with your own foot a little bit you'll notice that when you point your toes at 70 dg with the foot tilted slightly upwards (there should be about a 10 degree upward tilt, also), you'll really feel the amount of stretch in your heel. That is the stretch the baby needs to maintain while he grows. Put at 45 dg you'll hardly feel the stretch. It's not painful to the baby, and in time as the hours of the FAB are reduced and eventually eliminated, the foot will gradually revert back to a normal position, but it's crucial to have that initial 75. Any doctor making variations to the Ponseti Method is a big red flag to me and personally I'm the type who'd write to Dr. P personally and tell him this doc is modifying the method. s. -----My husband thinks I am stressing myself out for nothing. I appreciate any comments.
Guest guest
The affected foot is rotated out to 70 degrees which overcorrects somewhat since the foot has a tendency to relapse and when it pulls back in, it will eventually end up straight. If the casting is done correctly, the foot should be gradually worked out to the 70 degrees in the last cast and the foot will already have been eased into the position. If they are not casting out to 70 degrees, then it probably would be traumatic for the child to wear the shoes at this angle. I personally would be skeptical of this as it seems to be a pretty important point that he is deviating on. Who is your Doctor and where do you live? Perhaps there is someone who will not deviate from the protocol close to you. Jenni --- alex_ronderos wrote: > Hi Everyone > > Just have question.
