Hey all,

I'm bumping this one since there were no replies. Busy weekend though, so

here it is again. Hopefully someone has some information for and her

new little one.

, if you're in NYC there's a few docs that you could go to. Maybe the

others take your insurance? Also, you could travel to Baltimore to see Dr.

Herzenberg. Which of course is almost like going to see Dr. Ponseti, he's

that highly regarded.

Sorry I can't help more, I'm in Oregon and I can't remember seeing Dr.

Sher's name here (but I could just be dense).

We can however answer any other questions you may have as well so please

post away and someone will surely have an answer for you.

Welcome to the list and congrats on your little one soon to come!

Hi, !

We live in Queens and go see Dr. Feldman in Manhattan. He is affiliated with

NYU & the Hospital for Joint Diseases. He doesn't take our insurance, but we go

see him anyway, figuring he is the chief of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery, so he

must be good. He is also the one who started that Clubfoot Center you

mentioned. We've been happy with the treatement thus far, although his bedside

manner isn't the greatest. He's not a hand-holder, that's for sure, but our

son's foot looks good and knock on wood everything has been going well so far.

We also found that Dr. Feldman is nicer when our appointment is in the afternoon

as opposed to the morning. (Perhaps he's just not a morning person--I could

certainly relate!)

As for Dr. Scher, I have heard great things and I believe SOMEONE in this group

goes to him, but I don't remember who. In any case, I've heard he's really

good, practices Ponseti to the " t " and he has a good bedside manner. (He

actually DOES accept our insurance, but we didn't feel like switching doctors

again--we were originally going to a doc in Mineola who was NOT doing the method

properly and then we switched to Feldman). I've also heard great things about

Dr. Roye and Dr. Van Bosse (sp?). So, if any of them accept your insurance, you

would be in good hands with whomever you may choose.

Feel free to e-mail me on this list or privately if you have any questions.

My son is a patient of Dr. Schers. We travel @ 4 hours (via train &

car) to see him because he was recommended so highly to us by Dr.

Ponsetti. My son didn't start seeing him until he was about a year

old as we lived in Hawaii before then and that is where he got all

of his casting/ tenotomy, etc... I cannot vouch for Dr.

Scher's " correction technique " but with the checkups I think he is

wonderful. He does have a great bedside manner and sincerely seems

interested in my sons feet. I highly recommend him. If you have

any other questions feel free to email me at heather860@....

Hi ,

I too, live in Manhattan and go to see Dr. Scher. My son is currently seven

weeks old with BCF. He

was born premature and spent 2 weeks in the NICU so we started his

casting at about that

age. He has had four sets of casts and his tenotomy and we have two

more weeks in this

last cast. I can't say enough about Dr. Scher. He is a wonderful

doctor and very confident.

He is very attentive and has an excellent bedside manner. Dr. Ponseti

recommended him

very highly, which is one of the reasons we were so determined to

have him treat our son.

He doesn't take our insurance and we believe that paying out of

pocket is a small price to

pay to have our child be able to live a pain free life. I really

think you cannot go wrong if

you choose to have your son treated by Dr. Scher. We really like not

having to worry if our

Dr. is following the method to a tee- he is.

Feel free to email me if you have any more questions-

tkapoor@...

Good luck.

Tara
