Supposedly it helps fight infection after surgery and speeds healing, I also take a B-100 complex almost daily. My blood work showed my B12 at 268 (I never took vitamins before) which can be borderline in some people and normal in others. I swim when I get the chance to strengthen my lungs and most important, I quit smoking on May 24th.

Guest guest
Hi Jane (and anyone else who cares to respond) I am interested in things people did shortly before surgery to better facilitate recovery and healing. I have read some posts refering to blowing up balloons for lung capacity and increasing supplements. Any suggestions and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Hoping to be switched in 3 weeks ! Guest guest
I never took regular vitamins as a pre-op, so I knew that was a habit that I would HAVE to gt into. Since I had a long wait from consult to surgery (3 months), I decided to go ahead and start my vitamin regimen. First, it would get me in the habit, so it'd be one less thing to have to think about post-op, and second it would get my blood levels in good shape for surgery. That was my theory anyway. I can say that by the time my surgery rolled around, my vitamin-taking pattern was well established and I have remained very religious in taking them each day (this is the #1 most important thing we can do for ourselves forever!). Dr. Rabkin's office also advised walking as much as possible before surgery, to increase mobility and lung function so you're in better shape to deal with the post-op recovery period. > Re: Re: Vitamin Question.....etc... > > > Hi Jane (and anyone else who cares to respond) I am > interested in things people did shortly before surgery > to better facilitate recovery and healing. Guest guest
If you can't walk (I couldn't), get thee to a pool for no-impact water-jogging. Even before surgery I was able to do this 45-60 min. a day & it helped build stamina.
