Guest guest
Can we trade links? I was thinking of this yesterday when I read someone wants to make a new Ponseti web page, I could link to it from our web site (andwill!) but trading links would be nice, too - it's a way to reach a broader audience because you can get all kinds of stuff on there. Most wouldn't be cf related, yet when someone went to search for XYZ they will " accidently " find a Ponseti link there and you just never know when that is going to help just one more baby whose parents had no idea that they had any other option. Kwim? Our site is for our taxidermy shop - I realize it's a long shot but hey if someone was searching taxidermists, who is to say they don't have themselves a cf baby at home? Or a friend, family member, neighbor who does? And one little linked business page title wont' take a lot of work or room to do. Sort of like Please visit our sponsors? Before/after photos are good, and stories of course. You'll want that whole tip sheet thing. I haven't looked at that in a long time, but if it needs cleaned up in a tidy list for for easy printing that would be great to have on there and if you need help with putting that in to a nice format I can help. Might be already, like I said I haven't looked at it but it should be printer-friendly for people. In the search engine thingy that leads people to the site I think you'd want the words DBB, Dennis Brown Bar, FAB, Foot Abduction Brace, and other things (as well as the obvious Clubfoot and Ponseti terms) so people who are using these things non-ponseti might find out about Dr. Ponseti that way. Another idea might be to have a way for people to " report " so-called Ponseti Method doctors who are NOT following Ponseti Protocol. As well as a good list of doctors who we know ARE following it perfectly. A link to the World Book thing too that describes the method in detail. A bio of Dr. Ponseti and his medical history. A link to make donations to the Ponseti fund at U of I. Links to Angel Flights and Mc Houses. Find a clubfoot family near you to speak with for advice? If you can't tell I'm pretty excited about this idea! I think it is wonderful and I've considered it but didn't have the time/computer experience to pull it off. But I'll help you where ever I can, if you need anything written out or whatever let me know, OK? shawnee Creating a new Ponseti website - suggestions please! Hi some of you may have noticed Kori's previous post about creating a website to promote the Ponseti method, anyhow as my other half is a web site developer he kindly offered to create a site for us. Just thought we'd put the idea out there to see if anyone has some suggestions about what we'd all like to see on the site. So far suggestions have been - lots of before and after photos - case study to go with each photo - links to other Ponseti sites other suggestions would be greatfully recieved and can be either posted up here or sent to my email address. We hope to get started soon so also like to ask people to start searching for those photos and thinking what they think is missing from other Ponseti sites. Any ideas for a website name would be good. It would be good if it had an easy to remember name that we could get the domain name (web address) registered to us. Also tells me that one way to get a website to come high up on searches is to have links to it from other sites so if anyone has a site they would be willing to add a link to the new site let me know. Any other suggestions would be great. Let us know Kathy, and Ethan 6.3.05(bilateral, serial casting)
Guest guest
My worry is that if the site name is too Ponseti specific, people who need help with CF and are ponseti-ignorant won't find it? Let's toss this one around for suggestions? I'm blank at the moment but I think we should work on the name carefully. s. Re: Creating a new Ponseti website - suggestions please! Guest guest
I like that idea too! Another thing that would be nice could be links for each doctor to testimonials from people who have used that doctor, and if there are people who are willing, e-mail addresses to contact them if there are doctor specific questions. Guest guest
When a web page is set up, there is a phase that tells you to type in key words that relate to the site so that later when someone does a Google search (for example) if that key word is listed and they type in that word for a search, it brings your site up. Theoretically if we had FAB as a key word and someone did a search for FAB, your site would come up. That's why I was suggesting that the terms DBB, etc., be used - the initial version (DBB/FAB) and the whole words typed out too, along with other key clubfoot related terms, obviously the word club foot and the words Dr. Ponseti, etc. Back to the name of the web site, I think it needs to be more general because to my way of thinking if it names Dr. Ponseti specifically (or just Ponseti?), some folks might think that is a doctor's personal web page and well if they aren't one of his patients they might skip looking at it. s. I don't know much about how you get to come up high on Search Engine lists but right now the top 10 that come up when you Google " clubfoot " are some good sites, (obvious - the U of I virtual hospital site is #3, and Moss' STEPS site, yeah!) and some okay sites, ones that recommend the Ponseti method but still say surgery is needed in something like 30% of cases (not). But there are still in that top ten, quite a few, including the #1 search result that says that surgery is almost always required! I just wanted to email that dr. and tell him to get a clue! > > Hi some of you may have noticed Kori's previous post about > creating a > > website to promote the Ponseti method, anyhow as my other half is > a > > web site developer he kindly offered to create a site for us. > > > > Just thought we'd put the idea out there to see if anyone has some > > suggestions about what we'd all like to see on the site. > > So far suggestions have been > > - lots of before and after photos > > - case study to go with each photo > > - links to other Ponseti sites > > > > other suggestions would be greatfully recieved and can be either > > posted up here or sent to my email address. Guest guest
Kathy- How great to offer to help with this! I know last year when we were searching the web-it was often hard to find information. Links that would be good on the site-Dr Ponseti's virtual hospital(i treat that site like a my clubfoot training manual), link to this support group, and I think patient testimonial-especially of parents/kids who have been treated in this method for a while. I think the key is to get this site to be found immediately when searching google or ask jeeves, etc. Please let me know if I can help in anyway! Thanks again, Kathleen mom to (1 year old 2 days), bcf fab 14/7 > Hi some of you may have noticed Kori's previous post about creating a > website to promote the Ponseti method, anyhow as my other half is a > web site developer he kindly offered to create a site for us. > > Just thought we'd put the idea out there to see if anyone has some > suggestions about what we'd all like to see on the site. > So far suggestions have been > - lots of before and after photos > - case study to go with each photo > - links to other Ponseti sites > > other suggestions would be greatfully recieved and can be either > posted up here or sent to my email address. Guest guest
We can definitely put a link on our site to this site as well... Another thing that would be nice could be links for each doctor to testimonials from people who have used that doctor, and if there are people who are willing, e-mail addresses to contact them if there are doctor specific questions. I'm not terribly savvy, but I have done web work before and would be more than willing to help put some pages together. I know a very little bit of HTML, and can navigate in FrontPage fairly well, if the site will have FrontPage extensions. > Can we trade links? Guest guest
I think it is very important that this be done very effectively if we are going to do it. Guest guest
I'd agree that it should be generic. People starting out looking for info on clubfoot probably don't know the word " ponseti " yet and our job would be to provide information. This means the site name should be what they know and most people walking away from their first diagnosis apointment usually only know what they are told.... " clubfoot " The addresses " www.clubfoothelp.com " and " www.clubfootinfo.com " are both available. I think we should start thinking of ideas as simple as this. I create websites and also do web marketing consulting as well. Feel free to contact me if you need any advise. The search engine ranking thing is a tough one to crack. You would put 8-10 terms in your keywords embedded in the site and hope to get picked up on those. These might be things like clubfoot, clubfeet, ponseti, dennis Brown bar, DBB, shoes, Markell shoes, tenotomy, bilateral clubfoot, unilateral clubfoot, congenital clubfoot, ect. We would put together all the names we can think of and vote on the top 10. Maybe a web poll and those would become the keywords. Any more than that and the webpage score is actually hurt on the search engines. I wouldnt be so stuck on the page ranking. The other reason for having a site is a live place (address) on the web to refer people to and you'll have that right away. --- In nosurgery4clubfoot , " number23 " <number23@c...> > Back to the name of the web site, I think it needs to be more general because to my way of thinking if it names Dr. Ponseti specifically (or just Ponseti?), some folks might think that is a doctor's personal web page and well if they aren't one of his patients they might skip looking at it. > s. Guest guest
Did anybody else notice that Ponseti.com is owned by a marketing company??? What do you suppose might happen if they gave a hand?? > > > Hi some of you may have noticed Kori's previous post about > > creating a > > > website to promote the Ponseti method, anyhow as my other half is > > a > > > web site developer he kindly offered to create a site for us. > > > > > > Just thought we'd put the idea out there to see if anyone has some > > > suggestions about what we'd all like to see on the site. > > > So far suggestions have been > > > - lots of before and after photos > > > - case study to go with each photo > > > - links to other Ponseti sites > > > > > > other suggestions would be greatfully recieved and can be either > > > posted up here or sent to my email address.
