Guest guest
Hi! I remember my 1st appt. with Dr. Stiles very vividly. The reason is because it was quite painful. It opened up a lot of "old wounds". The questionairre that I filled out right before I saw her was very, very, very personal. It asked a lot of really upsetting things, I guess that they need to know. So...that is my experience. I would say as a piece of advice, get ready to get real. Be completely honest on the questionairre and poor your soul out! Does anyone have any idea as to what goes on at this appointment besides her telling me how much weight I have to lose? I am so excited that I am getting closer to the surgery, but I want to prepare myself.Thank you all for your help and support,Maridiana
Guest guest
, I'm sorry that your first meeting with Sasha was so painful. I love Sasha. I remember once she told me that they had started doing a very thorough psychological assessment of preop patients because they realized that patients' issues really had an influence on how they handled the whole process. For example, it is a fact that patients with history of abuse have a harder time maintaining their goal weight unless they get psychological support. Now, you and I and all of us know that Kaiser won't necessarily do real therapy. Their idea of therapy is 5 or 10 " put out the fire " sessions, and then have a nice life. But at least Sasha is trying to find out stuff so they can try to work with it. Anyway, glad you're here, glad you're in the world, and I hope it's treating you better now than in your painful past. I, for one, like being an adult MUCH better than being a child. Martha > > Hi! > > I remember my 1st appt. with Dr. Stiles very vividly. Guest guest
Thanks for your explaining the "Why's" of the Dr. Stiles appt, I guess I figured as much. When I did have my 1st appt. with Dr. Stiles I had No Idea what to expect. The only thing I knew was that she was going to set a # for me to lose. I was in tears and very upset upon leaving that appt. I wasn't prepared for the questionnaire. Of course I don't want to regain (once I hopefully get the surgery & lose all this disgusting weight). I am in therapy (really, really good therapy this time) and I hope to overcome most or all of my childhood traumas, at least learn how to deal with them. I love being an adult too, way more than I did being a child. Thanks for letting me explain and I still say to anyone seeing Dr. Stiles for the 1st time to Poor Your Soul Out! I think it's best anyway...I weighed 357 at orientation and I am 5'9" & very big boned. She told me I only had -20 lbs. to "get rid of"...10% would have been 36 lbs....I still have approx. 6 lbs. left...hard going...I see the surgeon on Dec. 20th...I am trying my best...also, besides old wounds trying to keep me heavy, I have really bad diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and a really painful lower back. But the diabetes is the worst. I am 40 now & I have 4 kids to live for, among a husband and of course, myself! Two of my kids are 11 & 13, the other two are 3 & 1.Sincerely, Hadsellaka: Katchick!www.katchick.com--- In gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients , "nursefera2" <nurseferatu@s...> wrote:>> ,> I'm sorry that your first meeting with Sasha was so painful.
