Guest guest
Hi Sherrie, I am just about 6 weeks out and I have been taking Capsuls and pills since about 2 weeks out and I have had no problems what so ever. I haven't had any problems with my stomach but the doctor has me on Prilosec. I'm also on Actigall in case of gall stones, and I also can take a tylenol and I haven't had one problem. Thanks, > > Hi There, > > I am about 5 weeks out from having the WLS outside of Kaiser and I > have developed acid reflex. Guest guest
Capsules are fine! BTW, you can test how well something is going to dissolve in your tummy by giving it the " spit " test. Take something like a shot glass and put a puddle of spit in the bottom of it. Drop in a pill and lit it sit for a few minutes. Take a look at the pill. It may appear solid, but if you poke at it, does it crumble? If so, that it should be fine. I have found that it is easier to take pills if I hold them in my mouth for a few seconds, until they start to become slightly slimey, then swallow them. The slime sorta coats them so they slide right down. s_maldonado2001 wrote: >I am about 5 weeks out from having the WLS outside of Kaiser and I >have developed acid reflex. Guest guest
I'm almost 8 months post-op and I take capsules just fine (and have since shortly after surgery). I take a generic prilosec that Dr. Baggs prescribed for me after surgery. See if your surgeon will prescribe you the generic version. I get a 90 day supply for $10. Not bad! Guest guest
Sherrie, capsules are fine. I am on Omeperazole (generic Prilosec) through Kaiser for my reflux. It works pretty well. And you are right about the OTC. It is pricey! Laurie __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi, Sherrie: I have been taking Aciphex (rabeprazole) for several years. It is the only proton-pump inhibitor out there that doesn't give me diarrhea. I have IBS and started taking it for GERD. It got discontinued from Kaiser's formulary, but my gastroenterologist checks some box on the prescription form, and they cover it for me since it's the only thing I can take. I have taken all the anti-spasmodics, etc., but if I go off of the Aciphex, it hurts! Worth a shot. Good luck, Shonda.
Guest guest
Sherrie I also have severe reflux and was prescribed the capsule. I still take it, but after the WLS the pharmacist told me to open it pour the little granules in my mouth and take a drink of water, works just as if I had taken the capsule itself. Hope this helps.
