Guest guest
> Hi Everyone, > > I am posting this message on multiple groups in the hope that more folks can shed some light on the situation. I am new to this group and I have my first consult next month with Dr. Keshishian. I have been told via telephone by staff at his office that California Blue Cross has become difficult recently in approving the DS. They (BC) have been approving the RNY rather than the DS and they have had to appeal. This is what I was told and I was just wondwering if there is anyone else here who has heard the same, or if there is anyone who has Blue Cross of CA and has been approved recently for the DS. If so, what was the approval process like for you?, how long did it take?. I prefer the DS over the RNY and not even sure why the insurance would be more approval friendly with the RNY. Any comments and advice would be appreciated. Thanks, , My name is I basically have just asked the same question. I have been recently denied by bcbs of ca. for the ds surgery. I am also looking for any info. I have had nothing but problems out of bcbs they say that it is now investigational., and that their pts have been having to many post op complications. i still prefer the ds. if you get any info i would also appreciate it if you could pass it on. my email address is Tezzlaman@... Guest guest
, We had BC/BS supplemental with medicare.....BC/BS denied us and we appealed with it going to medicare review board and medicare overturned them......they gave flimsy excuses why they wouldnt cover it...exclusion (wording wasnt exact so it was open to debate) then they tried to lie to medicare and tell them no surgeon in our area did gastric by pass (which is a lie as they do the rny but not the ds) and then they said they didnt approve it becuz of massive complications and no surgeon would touch us LOL.....well, apparently medicare saw thru that and simply overturned them and we got it done.....they paid what medicare doesnt pay. Guest guest
Hi , I just had Blue Cross of Delaware approve my surgery. It took less than a week. I received notification on Mon. July 16 and had part 1 of the DS surgery on Tue. July 17th. So don't give up hope.
