Guest guest
Can you see her toes? If so, are they discolored, purple, blue, anything unusual? I think removing it is the way to go for now, better to lose that correction than gain bad-correction.... and call the pager number! Holiday or not, get word in asap that you need help. Keep us posted! s. cast slippimg off Mollie has a cast slipping off. We usually go to Dr Dobbs on Mondays, but because of the holiday we dom't go back till the 12th. I'm not sure what to do, I think it needs to come off as it has slipped alot. The booklet we got said to call and page e and let her know, but again because of the holiday I don't think i'd get her till Tuesday. Is it an emergency? Should I call? Take it off? Can I take it off now and wait till Tues to call? Please help! Marci Mollie 5-25-05 bcf 3rd set casts by Dr Dobbs
Guest guest
Just curious here, I don't know if I am understanding you - it sounds like you took the cast off and put it back on. ??? s. So take it off, and gently move it over in the correct position by placing a thumb on the outer ankle bone, then gently moving the foot over to where she'll tolerate it. My daughter did this 2x also. Guest guest
My son had a cast slip and I went back within 2 days but where the cast had slipped downwards his foot had been pointing downwards for 2 days and we lost correction but they sorted it out when the recast him. It is a difficult one this one I think I would take it off if I had to do it again!!! Rach, Steve & Connor -- cast slippimg off Mollie has a cast slipping off. Guest guest
TAKE IT OFF! It can not only cause it to be improperly placed, but can cause sores also! If that happens then she will have to be out of a cast till they heal and then you WILL lose more correction. So take it off, and gently move it over in the correct position by placing a thumb on the outer ankle bone, then gently moving the foot over to where she'll tolerate it. My daughter did this 2x also. Guest guest
Marci, Well, I'm a little late in responding since it is now past the holiday and I'm sure you've gotten a hold of someone by now. Hope everything worked out okay with the cast. What did you end up doing? Would you be able to get in to see Dr. Dobbs at Children's since he is only at Shriner's on Mondays? > Mollie has a cast slipping off. Guest guest
I'm late responding as well. I had read what everyone had to say, but didn't have time to reply. We did end up taking the cast off Sunday morning. It had slid down at good 2 inches, you had to stick your fingers way up in there to feel her toes and you could see lots more of her thigh than on the other leg. I was worried about her getting sores as well as being held in the wrong position causing more harm than loss of correction. We had no trouble getting it off. I called and left a message on 's voice mail saying that we took it off and that I was doing the streching exersices. She called back today and left me a message saying ok, see ya Monday. I figure it will set us back a week, but at least she's ok. Marci Mollie 5-25-05 bcf > > Mollie has a cast slipping off.
