Dear Mrs. Yoder:

Yes, Dr. son purports to use our technique but does not

follow it to the letter. Instead of simply doing a percutaneous

tendo Achilles tenotomy under local anesthesia as an outpatient, Dr.

son uses general anesthesia and " instead of just lengthening

the heelcord, he checks for other muscles, tissues, tendons, etc.

which may need lengthening or releasing and does those too. "

In April 2002 I specifically wrote to him and asked for photos and

information on three babies he has treated to help me evaluate his

work. He never replied.

Dr. Siegel at CHOP also purports to use my technique and does

humanitarian work abroad teaching others, but from what I have heard

he does not completely adhere to my protocol either. Neither has he

sent me photos and data.

There are no physicians from New Jersey or Pennsylvania on my web

site list of qualified physicians.

If your insurance company gives you a hard time, I will be happy to

write a letter explaining the situation.

I.V. Ponseti, M.D.

PA Doctor

Hi we are coming to see Dr. Ponseti in September. I just spoke with

Dr. son's secretary at Children's Hospital of

Philadelphia (CHOP) at . His secretary says he is a

qualified Ponseti method doctor, I told her I didn't see him on the

list but she said he was a Ponseti qualified doctor and he is

actually quite good friends with Dr. Ponseti, bla bla bla…However I

still do not see him nor any other doctors in New Jersey or

Pennsylvania on the list. Could you please verify if there are any

doctors in NJ or PA that are qualified please. Someone from his

office also told my insurance company that he is a qualified Ponseti

doctor, so now my insurance company thinks we should use him, etc.

I told my insurance company he most likely does his own variation

and I know families who have used him and had what others felt as

unnecessary surgery, but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt

and check, maybe his name is just not on the list yet?

Thank you for your time.

Michele
