Guest guest
, When they are out of the shoes I think they do have a tendency to curl their feet into positions that make you worry. My son did this too, and Dr. Dobbs told us that it was just a natural way that babies hold their feet sometimes, thus him doing it with the other foot. I actually have a picture of my son when he is just a few days old before we even started treatment where he is flexing his left foot (non-CF) to where it looks like he has bilateral CF (his left foot is totally normal, not even a touch of MA). As long as his foot maintains it's flexibility, still good dorsiflexion and ankle abduction I think this is fine. Of course Dr. P will tell you when you go for Noah's checkups! Also, I think this tends to happen less and less as they start bearing more weight and walking. The regular protocol with the brace is 23/7 for 3 months, unless Dr. P told you otherwise, then a gradual reduction in hours, but this usually coincides with a checkup to see how things are going so the Dr. can tell you that it is okay for Noah to " graduate " to reduced hours. Guest guest
My son did this too, and it freaked me out a bit. But I figured he was tired of his feet pointing out and wanted to move them around. Now, at 11 months, his feet are just fine. He's pretty much in the brace only when sleeping, and an hour or two in the morning when he gets up. After they are off, his favorite thing to do is cross his feet at his ankles. In fact, that's how he always sits when he's in his stroller...like he's kicked back and relaxing. All he needs is a mini newspaper and a pair of slippers and he'll look like my dad did every Sunday morning in the recliner, reading the Sunday paper. It it adorable! I did keep an eye on it, and made sure his feet always went back out, and that he didn't fuss much when the shoes went back on. Good luck! > > Hi everyone I had a couple of questions. Guest guest
, My daughter does the same thing. It is nothing to worry about. We tend to over analize every little thing our babies do with their feet. I think that actually makes us more careful and to some point better caregivers. Sometimes, specially in the beginning of the clubfeet treatment we are still somewhat not very convinced that the casts and the shoes will really work because the progress is slow.... but it will work...I foreseen shopping with my daughter for pretty shoes with a big smile (until the credit card statement comes :-) andra Mother of Bilateral atypical clubfeet Mitchel shoes 12/7 Second tenotomy and re-casting Nov.3 > > > > Hi everyone I had a couple of questions. Guest guest
This is my daughters fav way of sitting too hehe, so cute. She sits in her highchair with her feet crossed always and plays with her toes. She also did the flexing in thing with her foot, our doc said that she was just stretching and playing with her foot. She is unilateral and did this with both feet so we didn't worry too much about it. I think that if I were wearing shoes 23 hrs a day, I would be moving my feet like crazy once the shoes were off, I wouldn't worry about it. & Grace > > My son did this too, and it freaked me out a bit.
