Guest guest
Hi Melitsa, As far as I understand, it's 3-4 years of age, not 3-4 years of wearing the FAB. They were having some cases of relapse when the child came out of the FAB at 2.5. Dr Ponseti has told us he would like in his FAB until he is at least 3 years old, and we're happy to do until 4 if he thinks it's advisable and is still tolerating it well. By the way, 's feet were still quite overcorrected when he was 2. I emailed Dr Ponseti and he told us to reduce the angle of the shoes to 50 degrees from 70 degrees and to not wear the shoes for more than 10-12 hours a day. His feet have now moved to a more 'natural' position. They moved there pretty quickly, so I could see how easily a relapse might occur. Hope this helps, Moss Steps Charity www.steps.org.za Re: Checkups: How often? Typically-check ups are every 6 months-at least that is where we are at with our son. FAB wearing-Ponseti is now recommending 3 years to 4 years depending on the case and feet! Hope this helps!
