Guest guest
Does snoring go away? When? My husband now sleeps in another room with both doors closed between us. He loves me but is a light sleeper. It's very lonely where I am....>>>> Shirley, Yes! If you have sleep apnea especially, the snoring does stop. Mike snored like a freight train (and Im hearing impaired and dont hear it but it did vibrate the bed lol) His mom now tells me she can not hear him snore at all! Im guessing snoring goes away due to the excess fat lost? Hang in there hun.....soon you will be sharing the same bed again! My feet swell if I stand/walk too much... if I wear sandals... if it's hot weather... if I travel in a car or plane (sitting too much). I've found that if I don't drink carbonated beverages that helps. Will this go away? When?>>>>> Again,,,,,,,YES! Swelling of the feet and legs will go away! I think Mikes went away within a month.....my ankles and feet got skinny before I left the hospital!! Does the WLS surgeon do any of the follow-up surgeries >>> Dr Welker only does the panni removal, I believe. Hugs, Judie

He loves me but is a light sleeper. It's very lonely where I am.... You're in the same boat as I am, although because our house is so small right now (we're in the middle of construction, though), there's nowhere for my poor dh to go, so he just toughs it out with earplugs AND a pillow over his head. Apparently, I still wake him up. He says that when the construction's done, he's going to start sleeping in another room so he can sleep through the night. ( A related question: my ENT thinks I probably have sleep apnea given my loud snoring and the size of my tonsils. My dh says I probably don't have sleep apnea because he's never heard me snort in the middle of the night. Anyone out there w ith mild sleep apnea who didn't know they had it until a sleep study?? Apparently, sleep apnea is one of the few comorbidities that really helps your case w/the insurance b/c you can't treat it with medicines, and it's 100% related to weight. alyssa

Mike didnt know he had it for sure until the sleep study. I did observe him stop breathing several times though...the study just confirmed what I already knew. I dont think you have to " snort " to have it....but then what do I know? I cant hear LOL (I just feel the vibrations if he is close to me) Judie

I never knew I had it until then. For me I'm sure it's 100% weight related but not for everyone. When I was a child and shared a bedroom with my sister, she used to stop breathing all through the night, I could hear it, so I assume she had it as a thin child, although she's never been tested. Guest guest
YES, YES....same here! I just completed my sleep study and found out I too have a mild case of sleep apnea. When they put the C-PAP on me it was the most restful sleep I had gotten in a long time. Hopefully the apnea isn't permenant and I'll be able to do without the C-PAP after my surgery. Guest guest
Shirley, I too have cea...and it is called a form of " adult acne " but it really isn't just the papules that accompany the disease. cea, for those who aren't aware, can find a description of it (with symptoms) at: http://www.rosacea.org/p2.html. Will it go away when you are at goal weight? No. It is not related specifically to MO. Metrogel is a topical that helps with the acne portion of the disease...but the flushing can only be decreased by avoiding " triggers. " Additionally, there are some (pretty costly) procedures out there that help with the flushing aspect...I actually had 6 Photoderm treatments (pulsed light) done and have reduced my flushing to 10% of start point. Friends tell me I'm back the to " peaches and cream " complexion I had when I was younger...and now I rarely flush. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like, or alternatively, join the " rosacea- support " group on yahoo groups. Amy (delurking finally - hi to my gurlies and Alyssa!) I've seen other MO's with blemishes and wondered if it is common. If so, will it go away when I'm at goal? (Doctor told me they don't know what causes it and don't know how to cure it; I use " Metrogel " lotion.) >
Guest guest
Hi Shirley! I love your reply to people who question the surgery! I have rosacea as well. I have what look like blemishes on my face but they're not really pimples. Also, I have broken veins on my cheeks. I do not believe weight loss will help this. It would be nice, though! I think the only thing to do for it is laser surgery to remove the bumps and veins and to avoid hot drinks, sunburns, and overexcertions. They can call make it worse. The swelling you refer to, edema, should go away after weight loss. My understanding is that it is caused by bad circulation which can be caused by veins being choked by fat cells. Hope this helps! I know you mean well, but I really must insist that you do as much research about Living With Obesity and about WLS as I have. Then I would be delighted to discuss it with you.
