It's not gross, just a fact of life. When I worked for an ambulance company about 10 yrs ago, one of most common causes of heart attacks would happen while they were trying to poop.

Also, when had his heart surgery, that was the one thing they really stressed-- do not get constipated-- as the added stress can cause all kinds of heart arrhythmia's. They told him then that this was going to be an ongoing issue (no pun intended) for life.

I know the medics would make jokes about picking another person up off the bathroom floor-- and transport them to the hospital for cardiac care.

Makes ya want to drink that water....

You are so right Tracie. I have increased my fiber to 25-35gms a day. I also chug water like it's "going out of style". Even so, I still sometimes have to strain. Makes me wonder if the sarc is messing with my GI tract. Funny thing is that once I "do my business" my heart will go back to normal...GI pressure causing this prior to pooping???
