Thanks Kay I think that my mind has gotten wrapped up in the " number " . I need to

just be thankful for the healthy life that has been given back to me and that I

am working daily on. My husband and I went with a couple the other night to

dinner at " Tahoe Joe's " the last time I was there my stomach was touching the

table in the booth. On Saturday when I went and sat in the same booth I had lots

of room. That is what I need to refocus on. I am becoming a scale addict. I see

how people can go extreme and to the " Other " side with the weight. Thanks for

taking me back to reality.

Hi Kristie,

The only advice I have to give about goal weights is simple not to get

too hung up on an arbitrary number. Once you get there, if you think

189 is too big for you, then try for a bit more. If you reach 195 and

you feel good there, then don't even worry about getting to 189.

There are so many other factors than just your height that help

determine what is a good weight for you.

I am just a bit under 5' 1 " and, according to the charts, I should weigh

between 98 (!!!) and 132 pounds to be in the normal range. But that

doesn't take into consideration things like bone density and muscle

mass. My surgeon gave me a goal of 150 pounds. At 138 pounds, I was in

a size 4 - I've regained a little and, at 148, I'm a size 6. I have

really good bone density (like most of us who carried around a lot of

extra weight for a long time) and an athletic body fat %, so carrying

around a few extra pounds works for me. You may find yourself in a

similar situation and that 189 may be slimmer than you think it will be.

Take care,

Kristie, what size are you wearing now? Maybe you

could shoot for a clothing size instead of a weight?

Just a thought. I'm shooting for an 8 or 10, I think.
