,

Hey, I noticed tonight something interesting... Darbi's CF has a

nasty scar on the heel (about where a tenotomy scar would be) and I

have noticed it redder lately. And inside the shoe tonight I noticed

a darker area on the rubbery stuff (what is that called anyway??!),

it's like brownish burnt looking right at that spot. Incidentally,

she does sometimes tell me in the middle of the night that her feet

hurt, or whatever. She's saying ow, ow, ow, and I'm half asleep so I

don't know what's really up. I have taken them off in the middle of

the night a couple of times even. She really doesn't like the

shoes. I wonder if this is the reason?

I have also had a really tough time with getting the straps on

properly. The tongue on the left shoe (non CF) just doesn't sit

properly at all. It's all wonky and pulled to the side half covering

the top of her foot and is slipped out almost every morning. I'm

placing it so that there are no buckles and it's not twisted where it

attaches to the side either. So it's lying exactly where it falls

normally and stays flat but then it's only on one side of her foot

and is slipped out of the top strap every morning still. frustrating...

And I'm still irritated about what side they come from (the

tongue). It's a *itch and a half to keep them flat yet still get the

straps tight enough. grrrr... Am I the only one who thinks that

part of the design is pure lunacy?

I'm still loving a lot about them but they're freaking squeaky and

the tongues irritate me. Now this rubbing spot in the heel. I

wonder if it has to do with the difference in thickness on that

rubbery heel there. You know, that little jump in thickness in the

back heel area? (those of you who have the new P/M's will know what

I'm talking about, it's difficult to explain. A picture would help

I'm sure). Maybe not so much that it gets thicker, but that the

lower portion is thinner? I don't know, what do you think?

I did figure out how to eliminate the slop. The middle screw wasn't

tight enough. I got that good and tight and the slop went away for

the most part. They still squeak though with the minor slop they do

still have lol... I have yet to get the soles put on, am waiting

now for our appointment with Dr. Sussman on the 18th next

week. Maybe the brace shop can do that for me at Shriners? Save me

$20... I can wait. She does stand in them so nicely though with

them being so flat (I love that!!!), and doesn't take them of if she

can get to her feet in the AM's anymore. She can't get them undone

so she doesn't take them off like she did the Markells! That's a big

bonus because I used to have to keep her in her highchair to get

anything over 12 hours. As soon as I'd let her out she had those

suckers off in minutes. I was about to resort to duct tape hehe!

How's doing now anyway? Healed up yet?
