I also used my iv stand while in the Clinica to pull up with...so maybe a

floor lamp would help...anything that takes the stress off the tummy muscles.

kath: i had my ds on july 23rd, and just got home on the 8th of

aug. i know what you mean about the lousy bed. i had an air

mattress and that helped some, but after 2 weeks, sheesh! nothing

felt good. i had rings above the bed to help me get up, but at home,

i am helpless until someone gives me a hand up. i hate it! i am

trying to figure out how to rig something that i can hang onto and

pull myself up with my arms til i am stronger. maybe even a rope

tied to the doorknob long enough to reach the bed.

last night i slept til 4 am in my recliner, but after that my back

was just too achy to stay there. so i went to bed. it wasn't much

better, but felt good to stretch out more than in the chair. but i

was stuck there til my son finally woke up to help me get out of the

bed. it took an hour of hollering to finally rouse him! nearly lost

my voice.

as far as the tired achy pain, take your tylenol every 4 hrs. it

really took the edge off for me. it helped me get some sleep, if not

a full night's.

if you don't have a recliner, consider going to rent a center and get

one for a few weeks. it can be a life saver, til you are strong

enough to get out of bed.

> I everyone I haven't post for awhile. I had my surgery on August

7, 2001. I came home from the hospital today and I am very

depressed. I was in the hospital for 4 days and I hated it. I was

not able to get in and out of the extremely uncomfortable bed so I

slept in a chair.
