Guest guest
I finally got through catching up on more than a weeks worth of posts, as I got behind for a while there. I am going to be a self pay and am trying to decide whether to go with Dr.K or Dr Rabkin. I have to say I have enjoyed reading all the posts about choosing a doctor, but I am probably even more undecided about who to choose now than I was before. As I said I will be a self pay. I have a high bmi (68) and I do have some co-mobidities. I have sever sleep apnea (pressure set at 20) and asthma that I think is mainly caused from weight and I have high blood pressure and some mobility problems due to sever knee pain. For these reasons, I had decided that I want to have Dr. Rabkin, He has had the most experience and I have to expect that I may be one that would have some complications. Also, there is a chance that he could do it lap which would make it easier for me to move around more post-op. The problem is that maybe I would be better off having open so that I won't be out as long and Dr. K's price seems to be much more reasonable. Actually there is only about $5,000 difference in them except that Dr. Rabkin's price is for only three days in the hospital and Dr. K will cover 6 days. If Dr. Rabkin has to do open then I would probably be there for about 6 days and that is if everything else goes fine. I know that no one can make this decision for me but I really would like to hear what any of you think would be a better choice and how would you go about making a decision like this. Should I make a consultation appointment with both of them and then decide or what? Thanks, Shirley
