Guest guest
I live near San Francisco, home of frigid summers and damp winters. (As Mark Twain purportedly said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." ) Ever since my weight dropped below 200 pounds I have kept the down comforter handy. Last winter, in the midst of our energy crisis, I scored a slew of angora bunny fur and wool long johns that I now wear most days and every night. Fortunately, I am a compulsive knitter and now have a ready supply of wool socks, sweaters, hats, scarves, and mittens in my current (and permanent) size 10 to keep the cold out. My dear long-suffering husband, who has thoughtfully supplied me with lovely size 10 lace undies and very sexy negligees gets to look at them with the sleeves and legs of my wool drawers peeking out. LOL. When I mentioned this little problem of being so cold to my surgeon at my semi-annual check-up a few weeks ago, he suggested that part of what keeps the weight off is the permanent alteration in basal metabolic rate that occurs in post op DS. An interesting topic for further study. Deborah BPD/DS 09/27/97 BMI 54 307 lbs Current BMI 25 148 lbs

For one thing, it make the arthritis in my knee much worse! Does this mean your metabolism is more likely to go back where it used to be if you live someplace where its warm all the time? I waited to get cold.. but it hasn't happened.. and for all I know, may not, since I heard it changed after surgery whether you'd lost weight or not.. I'm still warm-natured.... (dammit.. I live in good old 100 degree in the shade TX, too...) Hugs, Liane
