Guest guest
Hi Kendra, You are so right about prednisone, but sometimes it is the only choice you have..........and sometimes it works! I think if you catch the Sarc early, before it damages your body, the prednisone sort of nips it in the bud, so to speak. I have a distant cousin that was diagnosed about 25 years ago, was given one round of the pred (I think he was on it for one month) and he has never had the sarc come back! He was so lucky! For me, the prednisone did me like it did you........I had all the same symptoms except I gained 60 lbs in two months! I have always been underweight all my life, until I used pred and I cannot lose the 60 lbs. But pred treats everyone differently......according to their body. some on the list have said that when they quit the pred, after a few months, the weight left! THEY ARE LUCKY! I actually look like I am about 7 months pregnant! It is so depressing. So, do not feel like you are alone in this.........you have many here who are willing to help you and are knowledgeable about the Sarc Monster. As for the Enbrel, I have a friend who has been taking it for 4 or 5 years now and he is doing very well on it. I am on Imuran and have been for 4 years. It seems to be helping me a lot, but I still have problems. I tried Remicade in the spring of 2006 and it almost killed me, but many have made wonderful progress with it. Each person is different and what works for one does not always work for the other one. You just have to work with your Doctor and try different things. Feel free to browse all the files, messages, and etc. And. do not be afraid to ask questions. That is what we are here for.
