Guest guest
Barbara.... You do NOT need to take the carafate unless you need it. I asked the same question of the clinic (steve) and was advised that it was OK if I was not feeling nauseous. I would call again and clarify just to be sure but I'm not taking it and so far I've been A-ok Gordy > > On a side note, was there anyone from Kaiser Richmond that didn't need Carafate? I was send home in it and no where on there does it say " as needed " it says take 4x a day for 2 weeks. But the lady that called from Kaiser Richmond, said to try not takin it or to try to work it in? Why would Dr. Fisher send me home with it if he didnt want me to take it as directed? Im confused... > > Barbara >

Guest guest
It coats the lining of the stomach. Gordy says its for nausea, which makes sense being as I was very nauseous in the hospital. Guest guest
You are absolutely suppose to take it for the first 2 weeks. Then check with your doctor at your 2 week check-up. Some of us used it much much longer and still occasionally use it. Tina > > On a side note, was there anyone from Kaiser Richmond that didn't need Carafate? Guest guest
Hi Everybody... Just wanted to let you all know that I called the clinic this morning about the carafate issue. I'll report back after I get the answer. Thanks for all the input about this important issue... Regards, Gordy
Guest guest
See how things change so fast. It was different for me when I had my surgery, I had 2 bottles and I had to take it on schedule until gone, maybe it was because I have reflux, again every one is different, and how fast things change. Carafate coats your stomach so so don't feel sick. LOL Donna Diane Duenas wrote: what is carafate?? Guest guest
Barbara Every thing might just be fine for you without the carafate, just give it a chance. If you need it take it. Every one is different, listen to your body. Donna"Hokoana, Barbara" wrote: Hi Donna, I talked to Liz McClaren (???) I told her that it was difficult to fit everything in and I named off all of the things and she asked me if I had tried not taking the Carafate. I told her that I didn't know it was an option not to take it. She told me that it should say on the label to take as needed. I told her that it only said that on my Lortab not the carafate. She then told me to try not to take it and see what happens. I havent taken it since then and I haven't had any problems, but I go to stage 2 this afternoon so we will see what happens then! Otherwise you will end up with stomach aches, and or diarrhea as you change your little foods. Who did you talk to?
