I'm tall and rather big-boned... I look anorexic at 160! LOL I feel great, though and can't believe that I've already lost 80 lbs... I wondered if it were possible when I was immediately post-op and not losing as quickly as I thought I should. <<<<<<In response to your question about the protein - I doubt I am getting 75-80gms of protein a day. I would say I am still in the 40s. I guess I should try to turn up the #s on that, but you are right it is a cycle - the more nauseous I am the more I don't want to bother to eat, the more nauseous I tend to get. I have not found a protein bar I even quasi enjoy except for Balance and it is loaded with carbs and sugar (can we say candy bar??) and not that much protein. Does anyone have a Luna they want to sell me?? I don't want to order them off the website by the box if I can't stand them and I have yet to find them individually. Every time I experiment I feel like I am flushing $3.00 down the drain and don't want to do the same with 20-30 dollars.>>>>> I know what you mean about flushing money down the drain if you don't like the bars, shakes, etc. I just opened this huge canister of chocolate Designer Protein (they didn't have ANY of the smaller 'older' bottles!) last night. It's not bad! a whopping 17 gms/scoop (I use two scoops and mix with milk - wow! That's a hell of a lot of protein). I, too, find it difficult to eat these days. I just don't have any interest in eating when it's so hot and humid. Or, I don't want to eat much. I'm glad I got a shake in and a grilled cheese sandwich. That will be enough until dinner, I'm sure! I don't have any Lunas, but I should try those, too. If you can find some way to get the extra protein in, I think it would help. Problem is trying to get it in, especially when you feel nauseous. Easy for me to say because I didn't have any nausea, etc. I can feel for you -- I hope things get better soon! <<<<<The protein drinks are just as bad for me....I don't stomach them very well - I only try them on the weekends when I am close to a bathroom. >>>>> Also, the protein drinks take up quite a bit of space in the tummy. I found that I was eating more protein bars early on because they didn't seem to fill me up to the same degree. NOw I see they have creame covered Atkins bars... maybe they would be good? I've found that keeping the bars in the fridge really do the trick. They taste much better. The nasty aftertaste seems to really come out at room temp. Have you tried Pure Protein Blueberry cheesecake? It's a huge bar (30 gms/bar), but I used to split it in half. I'd eat it in bed before I got up in the a.m. Slowly, but surely. It has a chocolate covering and the inside has the consistency of cheesecake (not cardboard-like with other bars). <<<<<<I am also having a hard time with my supplements. I started hurling them this morning, something I have been battling against every time I take them. >>>> Even with the chewable ones? Ouch! I think someone once mentioned putting their pain pills in applesauce to hide the taste.. maybe something likethat would work for you (crushing the meds, even though they are chewable and kind of trying to 'hide' their taste). Sounds like you're really sensitive to various tastes and smells now. <<<<<I think I am going through a bad stretch. Since it is my 6th week hopefully it won't stretch too far.>>>>> I'm sure your body is just adjusting and this is temporary. I became pretty tired my fourth week post-op to my sixth week, so this time may be some milestone that the body goes through and it's manifesting itself with your stomach being sensitive. I hope you feel better soon! all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 six months post-op and still feelin' fabu! pre-oP: 307 lbs/bmi 45 (5' 9 1/2 " ) now:

Guest guest
Have you checked out Wal-Mart ? The Wal-Mart in my area carries Luna Bars..they are in the vitamin section, along with the protein drinks and other protein bars.
