question about bladder issues

I'm calling on the experts to help me out on this one. On Monday, Lindsey started screaming when she tried to go to the bathroom. She constantly wanted to go and sit on the potty but most of the time, did not go. So, off we go to the doc sure she has a UTI. We ended up having to catheterize her to get a urine sample at the doc's office. The doc came back and said the urine didn't look too bad but, put her on Cephalexen due to the symptoms. Here we are four days later and Lindsey is still screaming everytime pee comes out and holding it until she has no control left and ends up screaming, jumping up and down and peeing all over the place. I've given her cranberry juice and 7-up. She took one drink and said, "icky juice." :) I've given her baking soda baths, followed up with the doctor's office twice and still don't have any answers. Her bottom is not red in the least bit so I don't think it's irritation on the outside. We don't do bubble baths so that's not an issue. They did do a culture and nothing showed up.

I have no clue what to think. Have any of you experienced this with your kiddos? Or, have any ideas what could be going on?

Thanks!

I wish I could help you on this one but thought I would just let you

know I am thinking about you. I do know what UTI's feel like and they are

similar when pretty bad and can take several days to clear up, but when

treated it seems that it should be getting better by now, so it sounds

puzzling to me too. Hope she gets better soon.

Thanks Dawn! I am fresh off another torture pee session with Lindsey and there is something definitely wrong. It breaks my heart to see her in such pain. I will print out this information and take it to the doctor. Luckily, we are seeing Dr. Whiteman next Thursday so I will take it up with him too.

Thanks again!

Kim

Re: question about bladder issues

Kim, I really have know idea but did some yahooing and found this:It is for interstitial cystitis. Basically it is like a UTI but without the bacterial aspectof it. Same symptoms etc.Just thought I would pass it along. Good luck and I hope she feels better, Dawnhttp://www.ichelp.org/whatisic/AnIntroductionToIC.htmlPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
