I have a daughter who was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Myopathy at

age 1. She is developmentally delayed in everything, even her baby

teeth coming out. She is going to be 10 and just lost her 2 baby

teeth on the bottom. Her adult tooth is coming in over top front

tooth. Does anyone else out there experiencing this.

My girls are (were) developmentally delayed with everything from walking to

b getting their teeth to losing their teeth. Both Samya and Leanna did not

get their first tooth until about 11 months and both lost their first bottom

teeth at age 7. Leanna is almost 8 and she only lost her bottom 2 teet and

that is it. In fact, she got her permanent teeth completely on those bottom

2 before her baby teeth got loose. It was so weird but now the bottom 2 fell

out and the permanent 2 are moving forward and looking normal. The dentist

told me that is better because her jaw is so small that if her teeth were

not late, they would be crowded. That has been my experience. With mito

kids, all the timing is off. Hope that helps.

Hi I have a daughter named Leah. She will be 7 the end of April. She

started to get her baby teeth later than usual and also she is now just

having a loose tooth. In fact, I guess she has a couple of loose teeth;

but only one that you can really wiggle. I always heard that if you get

teeth late, you loose them late. So far that is true in our house. My

second son had his first tooth by 4 months of age and lost his first

tooth in preschool. My first son is average. Getting teeth and losing

teeth. But as said, this seems the norm with our kids.
