Dear Sponsors and Friends:

The miles are starting to pile up. Last Saturday, my pace group and

I ran 8 miles. Coach had us all do " hill work " which we

completed, but it was a challenge. Our run began in Golden Gate

Park, but soon we were on the hills climbing (running) up to the

Cliff House, then up Clement St and other residential streets until

we reached Lincoln Park Golf Club and the Palace of the Legion of

Honor. Wow! It was so beautiful. Even though we had expected rain,

it was sunny and clear. The Golden Gate Bridge was beautiful framed

by all the cypress trees and redwoods. We ran past Land's End and

then " toured " the Sea Cliff neighborhood, passing Robin 's

house (um… it's a mansion, not a house!) We also ran past Sharon

Stone's former residence when she was married to San Francisco

Chronicle editor Phil Bronstein.

When we got back to base camp, there were cheers and high-fives all

around. And there was a great feast of post-run goodies—bagels,

cream cheese, pb & j mini sandwiches, oranges, bananas, and Gatorade.

These foods taste so good after a long run.

Here are my weekly totals:

Sit-ups: 1500

Push-ups: 300

Circuit training: 3 hours, 45 mins

Running: 14 miles

Because our next runs go into the double digits, my cross training

will need to level off, so I won't be increasing any reps, but

holding steady at the current level. Also, my two maintenance runs

will have to be shortened from 4 miles to 3 in order to save energy

for the longer distance/endurance runs. The incremental increases in

mileage are about to get crazy—next Saturday we'll be running 10

miles, then the following Saturday we'll run 12 miles! Yikes!

A sincere thank you to my GENEROUS sponsors:

Doughty, Gemma Nimedez Arbas, Steve Blow, lba Pena, Atlantis
