Guest guest
I was thinking about the fatigue thing & all the ways we devise to deal with it. Then this morning when I put my (plastic) glass of juice into a coffee mug (to lessen the chance of knocking it over), I thought of all the other ways we learn to adapt. I know that I have come up with lots of innovative ideas, which would probably not make me rich if I tried to market them (except maybe the ICE BRA R). Maybe we could all contribute our ideas & I'll try to organize them into a list that new, and old, members could use. Even though my adaptations are necessary & helpful, sometimes I still resent the fact that I have to do it at all. Anyone else want to join the project? Guest guest
Rose, I would love to if I can think of anything. I love the idea of putting your juice glass inside the coffee mug. I know that I use bottled water so I will have a lid but I am sure everyone does that. I want to get the thing you put on your faucet to filter the water but then I wouldn't have the bottle with the lid. Go figure! Thanks for being you Rose; I really appreciate you. Guest guest
Terri, I think we make a lot of adjustments without really thinking about it. One of the things I've had to do for the dry eyes is wear goggles a lot. Yeah, goggles, like you wear for painting, etc. Because I get so hot & always have fans blowing in my face, even wearing reading glasses isn't enough. So I sit there reading the paper with plastic goggles on over my glasses! Pretty scary. Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
Terri, I use a filtering pitcher, not so much because I'm worried about water quality, but because the filtered water definitely tastes better. I have 3 gallon milk jugs that I fill with filtered water. I use it for drinking, making tea, coffee, Koolaid, etc. I don't use it for ice cubes; I haven't noticed a difference as the ice melts & since I drink a lot of ice water, I'd be making filtered water all the time. As it is, about once a week, I fill my 3 jugs, when I'm working in the kitchen anyway. It takes about half an hour of filling the pitcher, letting the water filter through, pouring into the jugs, refilling the pitcher. Then I keep the pitcher in the fridge. My grandkids drink a lot of water, which makes me happy. I only have to buy filters a couple of times a year & they are inexpensive. I'm not willing to spend money buying bottled water, especially since recent reports indicate that most bottled water, even expensive brands, is basically just tap water. I also worry about all those bottles going to landfills. http://www.pmmag.com/CDA/Articles/Feature_Article/BNP_GUID_9-5-2006_A_10000000000000120137 And for you Canadians, here's an article from Toronto: http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_11772.aspx Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
I guess I'm really lucky when it comes to my drinking water. The water that comes out of my taps is extremely chlorinated and tastes really gross, and I was buying bottled water for awhile, but then my mom suggested something else. There is an LDS church across from my sister's house that has a well that is for anyone who wants the water. You just take your jugs/bottles, etc. and fill them up as often as you want, and the water is the best I've ever tasted. My mom and dad refill my containers for me so I always have delicious water on hand. I wish all communities had this to offer their people. Many in the community use their old water bottles and refill with the spring water so the water bottles aren't wasted. Guest guest
, I am all for well water but make sure it is sweet water. We have a well on our property (the pump is down) but our neighbor says it is not sweet but it is fine for watering and bathing. We had to use his well water during the hurricane to bathe in and wash the dishes (after boiling). Be careful but if it is sweet keep drinking.
