Guest guest
OMG, your own doctor told you to stop your research??? Geesh. I'm sorry for the trouble but you won't regret following the right protocol! s. Thanks for the advice Hi Everyone Thanks so much for your advice. Besides, sending you an email, i sent the Dr ( Dr Minoo Patel- Melbourne, Australia) and he told me not to worry so much and stop my research! ( I quoted an article he wrote with Dr Herzenberg in 2001 that stated they used the 70 degrees in the Dennis brown boots). I am just like the rest of you and I want the best for my child and that means following the Ponseti method to the letter. I will now have to find a new doctor but at least I know that I am not crazy. Thanks so much for your support and I think I will email Dr Ponseti and let him know about the deviation. If anyone is based in Melbourne and know of a could Doctor, please let me know! Thanks a million,
Guest guest
As I mentioned yesterday I brought 's one and only pair of FAB's out of storage to see if they would not fit his brother Everett and they did, right shoe size I mean. Well we went to measure Everett shoulders, etc., last night to set the bar and strangely, the red bar (on 's old set) fit Everett, I mean with no adusting on our part...Now that had me really puzzled because was so much larger than Everett, and wore this pair (or tried to) when he was 27 months old....Everett is now only 22. And like I said, was much larger at that age. Then it dawned on me....six years ago 's attempt to wear the FAB probably did not work because his bar was WAY too short for his body, causing the pain, and probably all the blisters, etc. !!! I hadn't done any research at that point - I was a dumb momma following blindly. The brace co. had adjusted 's bar, not his doctor. I knew nothing about how it should be set and we had very bad results. So ya, DO YOU RESEARCH! s. Thanks for the advice Hi Everyone Thanks so much for your advice. Guest guest
, I haven't been on the website for a few days and I saw your last posting about 70 degrees/45 degrees while wearing the dbb. When my son was first put into the dbb it was accidently set at 45 degrees. At first I didn't notice because I had never seen anything different. When I realized something wasn't right I took him back in and they set them correctly at 70 degrees. For the next month his left foot wouldn't stay in the shoe. It wasn't able to tolerate it. He then had to get re-casted for another 5 weeks and have a repeat tenotomy. I am so glad to hear that you are switching doctors. We will never know for sure if having them set at 45 degrees caused a relapse but it will always be in the back of our minds. Follow the Ponseti Protocol. I know you already recieved a lot of responses I just felt the need to share my story. I wish you all the best. Max 12/27/04 bcf
Guest guest
HI , And I say " well done " on your research! If doctors are going to change the Ponseti method, they shouldn't say that they're using it. How can they still call it the Ponseti method, when it's not! It's not fair to parents who put their trust in a " Ponseti Doctor " and then have to check up on them afterwards. I have no idea how this kind of thing can be put to an end, but your idea of emailing Dr Ponseti is a good one - at least he can remove him from his list of doctors. Maybe he can recommend another doctor you when you email him. Take care, Moss Steps Charity www.steps.org.za Thanks for the advice Hi Everyone Thanks so much for your advice.
