Hi -

Have some personal experience with blockage -- I interspersed in your

message below.

Re: blockages

<snip?

If you alimentary limb is blocked you will throw

| up and stop pooping. But if the bilo limb is blocked you will get

| some abdominal pain and get very sick, but it won't be nearly as

| obvious what is wrong.

At 8 months post-op, I ended up with a blockage in my alimentary limb. The

symptoms were VERY obvious. However, I didn't stop pooping. Which, was

weird. I guess the stool was smaller in size (ie. quite thin), but didn't

stop completely. I got SEVERE stomach pain -- double over and

crawl-around-type pain. I did vomit. It was about midnight when I went to

the ER and my surgeon performed an emergency surgery right then, in order to

prevent dying off of the intestines.

| Is there anyone on the list that has experienced a blockage in the

| bilo limb? I would be interested in hearing what the experinece is

| like.

I do know of a couple people who had bilio limb blockages. but to my

knowledge, they don't actively participate on this list. One is two years

out, and she had her blockage close to 1 1/2 years out. Her symptoms were

more in her back than her abdomen. Actually, she went to a chiropractor for

awhile, thinking it was a back problem. She experienced pain on her back,

left side. When it finally got bad enough to call her surgeon, he knew

right away what it was. Another gal recently had a bilio blockage and she

let it go too long -- thinking it might be something else -- part of her

intestines died and she had a longer road to recovery.

Bottom line, in my opinion, is that since we had our innards re-worked, if

you experience anything out of the ordinary -- and we all know our own

bodies pretty good -- check it out to be on the safe side. Better to be

safe, than sorry.

Take care -
