Guest guest
We havent been on in awhile, but hailee also does that, her favorite phrase is you remember me, she says it over and over and over again,it drives everyone nights, it sounds just like a broken record, she has about 4 sentances that she likes to do that with, not much more comes out of her mouth except for that... So glad i am not alone with that.
Guest guest
Ann, > It kind of gets on my nerves to hear him say the same thing over and > over again. I say, " Ok honey. Let's talkabout something else. " > Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any ideas? I don't know what all it means but my little (age 3) is doing this same thing. What we have found works is to repeat the phrase back to him, and sometimes that helps the " skipping record " . The other thing is we have found some of Will's phrases are supposed to have a specific response or Will continues to repeat it until you give him the right line back. Example of this is he'll say " phew " over and over again until you tell him " that was a close one " and then he says the whole phrase back to you and can move on. This is definitely getting worse around here and our Speech therapist isn't too sure what to make of it either. Sorry I don't have any info on the why side of this, but we are dealing with it too Hope that helps some, J Colo
Guest guest
This is called perserveration. My son did this at times when he was younger and his mito was undiagnosed. We don't see it anymore now that he is older. Evan also developed paraphasias during several earlier regressive periods. One thing that helped was his speech path used a target and for each on topic sentences (a topic of her choice not his) he would earn a tally on his bull's eye for the session and he could chose a prize based on how many tally marks he earned. Do you notice more of this when is sick or tired?
Guest guest
does this but her goes on for days and is not just echoing. If she sees something she will talk about it for days one end- clifford, clifford, etc, etc. Over and over again. It is obsessive compulsive behavior for her. We have just started her on treatment for this. Dawn
