Guest guest
Michele, It seems like everything is starting to come together for your trip to Iowa. I hope it all goes well. Re: Dr. Ponseti Appointment Michele, I'm so glad things are working out!! You'll love all of them there. Joyce is so precious and Dr. P... well... that goes without saying. He really cares for your child and is very thorough. When we go we've stayed at the RMH but for overnight it's too much of a hassle. We've tried what used to be the RR and is now the Baymont but we prefer the Heartland Inn. It's a bit more expensive but it has roomier rooms, a great breakfast, an evening snack and it doesn't smell like a hotel. LOL It's just nicer. KWIM? Have fun! Chris Dr. Ponseti Appointment Hey everyone, I have been on the phone all morning! My peds. office talked to the insurance company for me, they got our case manager back for us and are arranging for us to be able to go for a second opinion...COVERED!!!! I don't have the actual refferal in hand yet, but they think everything is going to be fine. I spoke with Joyce at Dr. Ponseti's office this morning Collin has an appoinment on Friday, September 9th at 9am. I asked her if there was a social worker or anyone I could talk to at the hospital to help me arrange angel flights, ronald mcdonald house, etc but she said no, I have to call all of them. She didn't need any info. from me, I was shocked I thought they would need more from me, etc. I called angel flights but just left a message there was no answer there. I heard some of you used the Red Roof Inn as a Mc backup, what other places did you guys use? This is such a great, exciting morning!!!! Guest guest
Thanks for the tips Chris! I just talked to Angel Flights North East, they are going to post our info. and see if any pilots volunteer. They said my husband & I can both fly with him which surprised me, I always thought only 1 parent. I also submitted a form with the 2 dates to the ronald mcdonald house. But I will deffianlty make a hotel back up plan. I think we will fly out Thursday, Sept. 8th and our appoinment is Friday Sept. 9th, I'm not sure if we will go back home friday or saturday, I guess it depends on the pilot. They wanted to know how long the appoinment at 9 will be but I'm not sure, he could be running behind, order x-rays, etc. I told her I was unsure but she should try to not have the flight leave before 6 pm, or even do the following day if need be. They are so nice at Angel Flights! I just called there today, and they already called back, etc. Michele
Guest guest
Michele, I'm so glad things are working out for you! Here is a link to info on Iowa City hotels which might help: http://www.icccvb.org/wheretostay.asp Like we have found that for one night stays a hotel works out best for us.. esp. when you get the hospital rate.. the RMH is wonderful.. but you do have to clean your room thoroughly before you leave and if you're running short on time you have to factor that in.. Keep us posted! > Thanks for the tips Chris!
