Guest guest
There is a Finnish website http://www.kampurajalka.com ran by a woman who brought her own son o see Dr Ponseti after his doctor in Finland suggested surgery. There may be an e-mail address on there where you could reach her at. The brace they are suggesting for your son is called a KAFO in English - knee-ankle-foot orthosis - and while it will hold correction, it will cause the leg muscles to atrophy (weaken and shrink) and really should not be used. Dr Ponseti tried these and determined that the DBB was better suited to holding correction. The crease on the bottom of the foot indicates that it is not corrected properly, but there may not be need to do surgery. An experienced doctor might be able to correct it with casting. If you have the ability to travel in Europe it would be very worth your while to do so. There are many fine doctors in Germany, Spain, UK and other places not too terribly far from you that could help your son. Try contacting Dr Ponseti directly by e-mail ( ignacio- ponseti@... ) and explaining your sittuation to him and ask for his advice. You do not say what your native language is, but he speaks both English and (European) Spanish and will understand you well. Angel
