Guest guest
Hi! I have an 18 month old son in the middle of his treatment for a clubfoot. Although not considered severe, his foot was quite curled inward. He began castings at 7 days old and had his heel cord cut at about 8 weeks. We are now to the point of Dennis Brown bar and shoes for naps and bedtime. As any parent new to something, you do your research, but clubfoot doesn't really allow you much time to make decisions. I felt that the sooner we acted the better. I was extremely fortunate that my son's pediatrician referred me to Dr. Laurel Saliman with Swedish Pediatric Specialty Care. She has office hours in Bellevue and Seattle, so that is also very helpful. Dr. Saliman is very kind and gentle not only with my son, but also the scared parents that entered her office 18 months ago. She is very knowledgeable and honest about treating clubfoot with the Ponseti Method. She continues to attend symposiums and read up on the latest Ponseti findings. If you have a child with clubfoot, I highly recommend Dr. Saliman. Go to http://www.swedish.org/homepage.cfm and use the yellow " Find a Physician " button to find Dr. Saliman's credentials, location, philosophy, etc. Ponseti is the way to go!
