Guest guest
Again, keep in mind, I am not a medical professional-- but from what I have read, the large intestine and colon manage the water content of the residual food products-- too much water, and you get the runs, too little, and you get the constipation misery. If you have funky small intestines dumping unusual residuals into the large intestine, who knows what might result. The large intestine is also loaded with bacteria that live on and demolish the residual food-- too much of one thing or another, and you get increased gas production. A second opinion is definitely in order! Nan E. Message: 14 Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2001 23:36:29 -0000 From: tlarussa@... Subject: Re: MY Surgery-Dont Know GET A SECOND OPINION! The sigmoid colon is the almost last, (prior to the rectum), section of the LARGE intestine. The DS rearranges your SMALL intestine, but leaves your large intestine alone. Therefore, to my non-medical mind, it just doesn't make sense to say that you'd have a greater problem with diarrhea after the DS unless you already have a problem with diarrhea.
