You don't 'have' to know why your child needs fish oil to give them

fish oil. Fish oils contain Omega 3s which are essential fatty acids

to the human body and our bodies can't produce them so we need to

consume them so they should be a part of any healthy diet.

Unfortunately most of us don't get enough in our diets -thus

we 'supplement' with EFAs. Fish oils are benign -and healthy.

Outside of helping preemies and cancer patients gain needed weight -

Omegas are linked with helping most lose weight. Here's just one link

http://www.dietsecretsmd.com/secrets/all-about-fat/fat-burning-omega-3-fats.php

One fish oil isn't necessarily " less fattening " then another. But if

you looking for results outside of health there are only better

formulas for what we want the fish oils to accomplish. For most cod

liver oil (CLO) is healthy and you may notice some subtle surges -but

not the right oil -so I'd stop it anyway. ProEFA or a similar

formula Omega 3 and 6 oil is the formula for the dramatic surges for

the overwhelming majority. Most in autism groups still don't know

that yet which must be why CLO is still recommended. Like CLO -

ProEFA is a fish oil but unlike cod liver oil it's not made from the

liver of the fish (so no vitamin A like the CLO) ProEFA isn't a

pure Omega 3 like cod liver oil -it is an Omega 3 and 6 formula as it

also contains GLA from borage seed oil.

And to put fish oil in perspective most here use one to two capsules

of ProEFA to start which is about 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon -one slice

of typical pizza contains about a teaspoon of oil!

Why do we question the oils only when they are put in a capsule and

bottled? Imagine how many " capsules " of pizza, hamburger, french

fry, chicken finger and doughnut oils the typical child consumes a

day! (yuck) Fish oil gets not respect when it comes in a capsule -but it

should.

" Take a napkin and blot the excess oil from the top of your

pizza. " You can get up to a teaspoon of oil off, " says Joy Bauer,

M.S., R.D., author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Total Nutrition.

This alone can save you a staggering 14 grams of fat. Wait until the

pizza cools slightly, or the cheese will stick to the napkin. "

Final thought -if one ever doubts the good (or in rare cases bad)

side effects of fish oils -stop them...observe....start them

again...observe. You'll probably increase the dosage!

Hope that helps!
