Guest guest
I've read lots of versions of skin problems post-op. Mine is 10 times more severe than I've heard mentioned before. I started having acne about a month PRIOR to surgery. At the time, I speculated that the pre-surgery protein diet was sort of 'shaking things up' internally and that this was effecting my skin. I figured the cause was either stress or possibly hormone shifts? I'm 49 years old and this was more than I ever experienced as a teen-ager. I immediately got anti-biotics to take orally and to apply on my skin. The problem almost went away until I had surgery. Now, I've had surgery and the problem (which was already the worst I had ever had in my whole life) is back with a vengeance! I have huge red ulcers all over one side of my face. They are so bad that they over-lap. Are you getting the picture? This is truly embarassing. I just don't know what to do. I will obviously see a dermatologist as soon as I can get myself out on my own. Right now, I cannot leave because the closest bus stop is up a very steep hill. I cannot afford a cab right now. Oh well, I am busy trying to get well and mobile as quickly as possible, but everytime I look in the mirror, I hardly recognize myself because of all the red mountains. By the way, I am cognizant of the fact that stress undoubtably plays a role in this. Anybody got any other ideas as to the cause and a potential solution? Thanks all. gobo Lap DGB/Dr. July 9, 2001
