Guest guest
Oh I feel your (tooth) pain! I have been Calcium deficient for many years. It started approx 10 yrs prior to my surgery and malabsorbtion problems when I lost my left ankle in a car accident. My brain doesn't realize that it's fiberglass and metal down there, so it drains it from other areas...espcially my teeth. Anyhow, I too have teeth needing pulled. I was going to wait til my insurance kicked in, but found out that I was pregnant and it was too late. The toothaches came strong in my teen-weeks of pregnancy and I managed to make it through to 14-17 wks before getting the rotted molars pulled. My OB was moreso concerned about NOT getting the teeth pulled and the infections going into my blood stream and hurting the baby. My two molars were BLACK and CRUMBLING! My OB said that I was only allowed to get 2 xrays and I had to be double-covered with the shield. The dentist had no problems pulling the teeth but they demanded on speaking with my OB and getting a letter of approval and signed confirmation on what was being done to me. Without asking, the dentist offered me a newer form of anesthetic shot...for people that are highly-sensitive to the regular kind or who are pregnant. I opted for it although my dentist said the regular wouldn't hurt me. They gave me a script for Tylenol #3 (never had to take it though) and made sure that I was on Antibiotics for 48 hrs prior to the oral surgeries. It was a peice of cake! in Detroit

Guest guest
> Hello everyone, > > I'm 26w2d pregnant with my first child and have been in severe pain > with a toothache for the last three days. I called my ob/gyn to see > what I could do, if I could go to the dentist, take for pain, etc. > He did say I could go see my dentist and off I went. The dentist > wants to send me to an oral surgeon to have two teeth extracted and > I'm nervous as hell! She called my ob/gyn (at his request) before > taking any x-ray or giving me any pain medicine. I was hoping to > wait it out to have these teeth pulled until after my son is born, > but I've still got about 3 months to go and I don't think I can > wait. Hi Jeri, I am around week 20 now and had an emer root canal done a week and a half ago. I actually had the worst pain from it a month ago and with OB's permission they did a few Xrays (double the lead vests as protection) and realized I needed a root canal. since that wasn't allowed until I was in my second trimester they put in a temp filling with some pain medication so it didn't hurt, but I pretty much stuck to soup and soft foods until the root canal was done. My jaw swelled after it and I took tylenol 3 for about 4 days. I took it only when I couldn't stand the pain because I too didn't want to do anything to hurt my growing baby, but you will do your baby no good to be in pain and not eating or sleeping well either. Be sure to tell the oral surgeon you are pregnant and have the names of meds that are okay written down from your OB. in my case my OB said novacaine was allowed but not with epinephrine added, things like that. I hope you feel better soon! Colleen (due 1-23-05)
Guest guest
Thanks to those who read and responded. I feel 100% better today after having those two teeth extracted by an oral surgeon yesterday afternoon. I walked in, barely able to fill out the paperwork because of the pain, and walked out in amazement at the relief and lack of pain. This oral surgeon was the bomb, if ya ask me!! He called my ob/gyn to see what was okay to take and what he could give me and we went from there. He said if I had waited, or this had happened in a couple of more weeks, I would have had to wait it out...which is something I read online too. I haven't had any more Tylenol 3, and only took 2 Extra Strength Tylenol's when the numbness wore off. I feel good ~ too bad I have to go to work when I feel like playing!! hehe!! Jeri > Ugh! Guest guest
Hello All, I am not sure if there is anyone on Imuran but I need some advice. Since starting it, my fatigue has been terrible. We started low at 100mg per day but I kept getting things like Bell's Palsy, trigeminal neuralgia, hoarseness, etc. In order to try to get things under control we upped it to 150 with hopes of going to 200 mg per day. Since I got to 150, I have had two viruses one stomach and one upper respiratory. I am having terrible problems with my sinuses. They have me taking mucinex for it but it does not go away. I have had two days of Bell's and a month of hoarseness. The fatigue is still terrible. Now, my question is this: could these problems be worsening because of the Imuran or could it be I am not taking enough? Does anyone else get severe fatigue from Imuran? I know you are not doctors, but you have practicle expererience with the drugs not just book knowledge. I am going to speak/see my PCP Monday but I wanted some advice before I went. Also, does anyone have a worsening of symptoms after doing to much and/or getting hot? Thanks for listening. Terri G.
