Guest guest
I don't know the answer but they changed Everett's to 60% over a year ago and if it sets your mind at ease, his feet are terrific! s. Question 2....The s come set at 60 degrees and has said over the phone that this is Ponseti's wish for his shoes, but all doctors and many postings on this site mention 70 degrees. Guest guest
Gabe's shoes were set at 60 degrees, because during the last casting he fought with Ponseti so that we only got 60 degrees adduction on his left foot. Otherwise, they would have been set to 70 degrees. However, Gabe has been wearing 's for 9 months now and his feet look awesome. I think the key is not to go under 60 degrees. Maybe there was a specific reason he had set them at 60? Have you seen Ponseti? Lastly, while she can continue to wear the shoes till all her toes are hanging over, I know you want to get your money's worth out of them. I would just continue to contact and see if he'll make to other pair in the meantime. Tehn when you get pair #2, you can send the other back to him. You can use florist foam to make a new impression to send him if you don't want to wait for him to send you another impression kit. Since a big topic this week has been sizing questions of the brace I thought I'd add a few questions of my own. We just got our daughter's 2nd set of s and they are a size " 0 " where the old shoes were a size " 00 " Her big toes are already hanging a bit over the end (on the first wearing) and we don't know what to do. It appears that they may be too small even though we sent an impression kit and a trace. Since they take 2-3 weeks to make...what now? We can't send these back since they are much closer than the old ones and need something in the meantime. Yes....I have contacted and waiting to hear back, but was wondering if anyone had ideas in the meantime. Guest guest
That's funny. The info that came with Lily's PMs said 60 degrees! I too had seen a post a while back that 60 deg. on the PMs was equivalent to 70 on the Markells. But Kori's direct measurements seem to contradict that. I called & he said Ponseti was telling him to set them at 60 deg. So I've just left Lily's at 60 and so far so good (hope we don't have problems down the road). Our doc said we could increase them to 70 if we wanted, since he thought she could stand the 10 deg increase even though she's been set at 60 deg. for a while. He didn't think it was necessary & based on my conversation with , I decided not to change the setting. Clear as mud, huh? Guest guest
ok, what's even funnier is that I didn't actually see that it said 70 degrees. The guy at the orthotics shop told me it said that and he kept the literature from . So I'm looking here at the paper that came with Darbi's new shoes (arrived last week) and it says absolutely nothing about the degree of abduction whatsoever. It DOES however say that the brace is worn full time for 3 mo's and after that only at nights and naps. Ummmm.... anyone other than me think needs to change that little bit of information? This is the new pamphlet that comes with the shoes that says it's a Ponseti AFO. Kori At 08:53 AM 8/31/2005, you wrote: >That's funny. Yes....I have >contacted and waiting to hear back, but was wondering if anyone >had ideas in the meantime. Call , if they're too small they won't work. Something funky happened because her toes should not be over the edge and I know intends for these shoes to be worn as long as possible so they're supposed to be a little bit long. He'll send you the right size shoes, he's a very nice man. >Question 2....The s come set at 60 degrees and has said >over the phone that this is Ponseti's wish for his shoes, but all >doctors and many postings on this site mention 70 degrees.
