Hi all... I have not posted here or read this list in a while. Just

checking in here. I wanted to mention that I have been extremely lucky

with this surgery. I did have a complication during surgery with a

stapler malfunction and I also would not wake up after the surgery and

was kept intubated for longer than expected, but other than that stuff

it's been pretty smooth sailing. Oh I did have horrible gas pain in

weeks 6-7. But, I have not had a single plateau yet and i am 19 weeks

post op. I will be 5 months post-op next Thursday, August 23. I have

lost 92 pounds. My starting BMI was 54. My weight loss has been pretty

good and steady. I go on the treadmill every day for 20 minutes, which

is a miracle for me, really. I am still in amazement at myself over

this one! I also eat mainly protein. I notice that I lose more during

the weeks that I eat mainly protein. I barely eat any breads, rice,

potatoes, pasta, etc. I was never a carb addict. I was a compulsive

overeater. I also barely eat any fruit. I do eat veggies and I indulge

in a few teaspoons (2 or 3) of ice cream almost every night. My

favorite food most recently, I make a tupperware full and have it at

work for breakfast and lunch, is turkey and ham slices spread with

mustard and then rolled around a pickle spear. I love the crunch. I

always have a snack at around 4 of nuts or string cheese too. So,

basically I just wanted to say that not everyone has a plateau. I don't

know if I am lucky or if it's my food choices and exercise. Oh, also, I

don't use much fat. I know everyone says, " fat is our friend " , but I

just always used the lowfat of everything all my life and am used to

that taste. Like lowfat mayo and nonfat cottage cheese. So anyways,

this is what works for me. Good luck and be well everyone!
